Earn
College Credit Now at Northeast Technology Center
Northeast
Technology Center (NTC) is very excited to be partnered with
area colleges who will grant college credit for NTC
technical coursework. Under the new Alliance guidelines,
qualified high school students can receive college credit
for their technical courses simultaneously while attending
approved programs at NTC. The new guidelines create a more
student-centered collaboration between the technology center
and higher education for qualified high school students that
will let the student receive college credit at the end of
each semester. Colleges participating under the Alliance
with NTC are NEO A&M College, OSU Institute of
Technology-Okmulgee, and Rogers State University. The
number of college credit hours granted varies from college
and technical program.
Costs are at a minimum for a
student to take advantage of the Alliance. College tuition
is waived, but there is an $8.00 per credit hour fee
assessed for the college credit that will be granted by the
participating college. It is be the students
responsibility to pay this fee directly to the college.
High School students who meet one of the ACT Fee Waiver
criteria will be able to have their college fees waived.
Students need to provide documentation for the fee waiver
through their counselor. The criteria a high school student
has to meet before earning college credit with the Alliance
colleges is that a student must meet one of the following
while at NTC: A cumulative grade point average of 2.5; or a
composite score of 15 on the Plan Test taken during the
sophomore year; or a composite ACT score of 19.
NTC will be hosting
participating colleges on each of the campuses for spring
co-enrollment to qualified students into the Alliance
program. These dates and times are: August 27 -- Kansas
Campus, Student Break Area, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; August
28 -- Afton Campus, Student Break Area, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m.; and August 29 -- Pryor Campus, Student Break Area,
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
NTC adult students in day-time
programs may co-enroll simultaneously with participating
colleges in approved programs. Upon successful completion
of coursework at the technology center, a college transcript
will be provided to the student reflecting their NTC
coursework transferred into college credit hours. Northeast
Technology Center also has agreements with Coffeyville
Community College, Crowder College, Labette Community
College (Nursing only), Missouri Southern State University,
University of Oklahoma -Tulsa (Nursing only), and Oklahoma
Wesleyan University. Also, Northeastern State University
will review transcripted credit hours from all participating
Alliance colleges in approved NTC programs that could be
accepted as Advanced Standing Credit into NSUs Bachelor of
Technology degree. These colleges do not abide by the new
Alliance guidelines.
The demand for more technicians
is prompting the realization that an Associate's Degree in
Applied Science and/or Bachelor's Degree in Technology,
combined with a technical background, provide lucrative
educational and career opportunities. Not only will
students receive technical training of the highest quality
from one of the nation's best technical education system,
but they also have the opportunity to receive a college
degree from a fully accredited college. This will allow a
student to obtain higher-level management positions in a
technology field. Students who qualify for college credit
through their NTC program can have approved courses become
part of an official college transcript by a participating
college. This college credit earned by the NTC student can
lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree.

Earn College Credits Now at
NTC
Northeast
Technology Center is very excited to announce that, beginning
this fall, new Alliance guidelines will enable qualified high
school students to receive college credit for their technical
courses simultaneously while attending approved programs at
NTC. The new guidelines create a more student-centered
collaboration between the technology center and higher education
for qualified high school students that will let the student
receive college credit at the end of each semester. Colleges
participating under the Alliance with NTC are Connors State
College, NEO A&M College, OSU-Okmulgee, and Rogers State
University. The number of college credit hours granted varies
from college and technical program.
To help
parents learn more on how their son/daughter can take advantage
of this great cost savings opportunity, NTC is hosting two
parent and student information meetings at the following NTC
campuses: August 21st, at the Kansas Campus, Highway 10 at the
Cherokee Turnpike, in the student break area, at 6:30 p.m. and
7:30 p.m.; and August 22nd, at the Afton Campus, four miles
north of Afton on Highway 69, in the auditorium, at 6:30 p.m.
and 7:30 p.m.
Costs are at a
minimum for a student to take advantage of the Alliance.
College tuition is waived, but there will be an $8.00 per credit
hour fee assessed for the college credit that will be granted by
the participating college. It will be the students
responsibility to pay this fee to the college. This is a huge
savings to the student/parent since college tuition is in excess
of $70.00 per credit hour. The criteria a high school student
has to meet before earning college credit with the Alliance
colleges is that a student must meet one of the following while
at NTC: A cumulative grade point average of 2.5; or a composite
score of 15 on the Plan Test taken during the sophomore year; or
a composite ACT score of 19.
In addition to
the parent and student information meetings, NTC will be hosting
participating colleges on each of the campuses for student
informational assemblies in which parents are encouraged to
attend with their son/daughter if possible to visit with college
reps. The dates for the college visits are: August 23rd --
Kansas Campus, Seminar Center, 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; August
24th -- Afton Campus, Auditorium, 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; and
August 25th -- Pryor Campus, Seminar Center, 10:00 a.m. and
12:30 p.m.
A week later,
college representatives will once again be on campus to actually
enroll qualified students into the Alliance program. These dates
and times are: August 30th -- Kansas Campus, Student Break Area,
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; August 31st -- Afton Campus,
Auditorium, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and September 1st -- Pryor
Campus, Auditorium, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
NTC adult
students in day-time programs may co-enroll simultaneously with
participating colleges in approved programs. Upon successful
completion of coursework at the technology center, a college
transcript will be provided to the student reflecting their NTC
coursework transferred into college credit hours. Northeast
Technology Center also has agreements with Coffeyville Community
College, Crowder College, Labette Community College (Nursing
only), Missouri Southern State University, Oklahoma
University-Tulsa (Nursing only), and Oklahoma Wesleyan
University. Also, many NTC programs are currently being
reviewed for Advanced Standing Credit at Northeastern State
University in which NTC courses could be transferred into the
Bachelor of Technology degree. These colleges do not abide by
the new Alliance guidelines.
The demand for
more technicians is prompting the realization that an
Associate's Degree in Applied Science and/or Bachelor's Degree
in Technology, combined with a technical background, provide
lucrative educational and career opportunities. Not only will
students receive technical training of the highest quality from
one of the nation's best technical education system, but they
also have the opportunity to receive a college degree from a
fully accredited college. This will allow a student to obtain
higher-level management positions in a technology field.
Students who qualify for college credit through their NTC
program can have approved courses become part of an official
college transcript by a participating college. This college
credit earned by the NTC student can lead to an Associate in
Applied Science degree that is transferable to other
participating Oklahoma colleges.

Technology Center and Afton High School, is the first NTC high
school student to graduate with a high school diploma, a
certificate of completion from a technology program, and an
Associate of Arts degree. During her junior and senior years in
high school, Ms. Beckerman took both classroom and on-line
courses from NEO A&M College and Coffeyville Community College.

and Coffeyville Community College to earn her degree which will
be awarded in December.
