  Program Overview
Click here for information pertaining to this program!Everyone desires to look and feel their best, and this course teaches the skills necessary to succeed in the ever-changing world of style and fashion. Because clients return for repeat services, the potential for a competitive practice is tremendous. This course also teaches the principles of customer relations and salon management in order to give the student the background needed to become an independent stylist. This course will also prepare the student to take the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology Exam for licensure.1500 hours of instruction are needed to be eligible to take the state board exam. For the student currently in high school this course supplies over 1050 of those hours with the remaining 500 being granted upon obtaining the high school diploma. As a result of the hours required, attendance in this program is of the utmost importance.
Earnings & Advancements
Earnings depend upon the employer, the quality and speed of a cosmetologist’s work, the geographic location and a cosmetologist’s ability to keep regular customers. Cosmetologists are paid on a salary/commission basis and receive tips. The median annual income for barbers and cosmetologists depend upon the size and location of the shop, the number of hours worked, customers’ tipping habits and the competition from other barber shops and salons.
