TECHNICAL AND INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

Class

Description

1 Beginning Welding Introduction and history of SMAW, Review the five essentials of welding, electrode identification, shop safety, job practices including striking and maintaining and arc, stringer beads, build a pad of beads, welding fillet welds in all positions and v groove in all position.
2 Advanced Welding Students who have basic knowledge of welding may enroll to further their skill level.  Instruction will be based on student’s ability and desire within the welding field. 
3 Residential Wiring This course provides the foundations for the principles of electricity and magnetism required for further study in electricity and electronics. Instruction includes: Basics of electricity,  DC & AC circuits and analysis, magnetic circuits, use of meters, and how motors and transformers work.
4 Gig Making Jesse Webb, renowned metal fabricator and expert gig fisherman will teach students the basics of gig making.  Students will learn how to fabricate their own gigs for fishing, which will include cutting, shaping, and attaching the gigs.
5 Small Engine Repair Homeowners and lawn service personnel save money!  Learn the skills to work on lawn and garden equipment yourself.  This basic class covers all areas of safety, tools, engine theory, electrical theory, fasteners, specialty tools and testing equipment.
6 Basic Knife Making Knife manufacture offers the metal worker the opportunity to use or hone their skills and produce a unique piece that may be used in the workshop or become a prized heirloom. The class offers the student a selection of desired materials and mounting procedures for the handles. Students will also be given individual instruction in knife making techniques as well as the proper use of grinding and polishing machines. Other areas of instruction include: Safety and operation of machines, metal types and properties, clean and strip metals, shape and form metals, use of metal polisher, selection of materials for handle, treating, carving and polishing handle materials, drill and mount handle, final polish and sharpening procedure.
7 Pocket Knife Making Students will apply the same skills as knife making, but will be using a project kit that includes a folding blade.
COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

Description

8 Microsoft PowerPoint Students will learn the menus and toolbars in the PowerPoint application window, create text slides, use the drawing toolbar, create a PowerPoint table, use the Microsoft clip organizer, design templates, create speaker notes and produce a slide show. This class is a very versatile tool that can be used in a variety of settings from corporate presentations, weddings, funerals, class graduations and many more events.
9 Microsoft Excel Students will learn the basics of operating the MS Excel program.
10 Microsoft Access Student will learn the basics of the MS Access applications.
11 QuickBooks
Learn to use the simplest form of accounting for small business owners. The basic accounting principles will be introduced to the students Included in instruction will be how to set up data quickly with lists, preparing inventory lists, invoicing, enter and pay bills, track time and job cost accurately, work with bank accounts, create reports, graphs, track and pay sales tax and complete payroll. Students will also learn to track the most profitable customers and activities.
12 Computer Repair Become familiar with common computer acronyms, terms, definitions and operational procedures. Instructor will cover the basic history of computer design and architectures commonly used. Students will be able to identify and become familiar with the internal components and functions of a computer also how the transfer of information inside a unit takes place. Students will be able to operate and maintain a home computer and fully understand trouble shooting hardware problems. They will also be instructed in upgrading and optimizing procedures to obtain a smooth operating system.

14 Microsoft Word Students will learn how to utilize the basic tools of word application in customizing letters, banners, signing, entering text, applying creative font and font size to the text, inserting word art, pictures, previewing and saving a document as a web page, current date and time. Word is a must have application for everyone looking for appropriate letter writing skills, this is the first step to understanding most MS Office applications.
15 Windows Movie Maker In this class we will cover the aspects of creating a VCD or DVD Slideshow complete with music from the beginning using your photos / Music / Notebook for Notes / CD or DVD.
16 I Finally Bought a Computer, Now What? In this class students will cover the basic computer operation.  This will include how to use the computer to  set up e-mail accounts, how to use the software on your computer, how to browse the internet and how to identify warnings and updates.
17 Buying and Selling ON-LINE Buying and Selling On-Line – In this class, students will explore many of the ways to find what you want to buy and how to list things you want to sell on the internet.

18 Intro to Computers/Intro to Word This is a 3 week course consisting of 9 hours that will include instruction in basic keyboarding skills, how to use a mouse and browser to be able to navigate in the Windows operating system comfortably and with confidence. Students will be introduced to MS Word application by using the menu system, toolbars, task panes, creating a document, editing a document, formatting, using writing tools as well as inserting a picture, previewing and saving a document as a web page.

Students will be introduced to the components of a URL, connecting to the internet, starting Internet Explorer, the Explorer window, displaying help information, browsing the world wide web, navigate through a web site, searching the WWW, adding web items to the desktop, using electronic mail, participating in newsgroups, transferring files from the internet, covering security on the internet, working offline and a final case study. Students will learn to go online and send and/or receive email.

23 ACT Enhancement Students will get math and language arts instruction to help them prepare for the ACT test.  The class will be 5 sessions of 3 hours each.

26 Reading Tutorial Students will be given computer aided instruction in areas of choice.
27 Advanced Math (Algebra, Geometry, Trig.) Students will be given computer aided instruction in areas of choice.

29 Spelling Tutorial Students will be given computer aided instruction in areas of choice.

32 ACT/SAT Prep This is a hand on tutoring class for all ages, students will be able to receive help in Reading, Advanced Math, English, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, ACT/SAT Prep, Career and College Search and Employment Assessment Testing, GED Class, Para-Prep (OGET). Students under the age of 16 years old must be attended by an adult.
33 English as a Second Language-ESL This class will give students the ability to read, write and speak English that will help them in their jobs as well as in everyday activities.  Students will learn and improve their vocabulary by creating common conversations.  Students will be able to read and write correctly by using basic grammar skills.  Students will become fluent in every aspect of the English language that will help them to become more involved in the community and also in the American culture.

CERTIFICATION TRAINING

*34 Basic Real Estate This course provides 90 hours instruction to prepare the applicant for examination and licensure as a provisional sales associate. This course will prepare participants for the Real Estate Sales Associates Licensing Exam, which is given by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.  The course provides a basic foundation in real estate and is recommended for anyone associated with the real estate industry.  Upon course completion, the student may sit for the State exam.  Upon passing the exam, you will be issued a provisional sales associate license, which will be valid for three years.  For the license to be renewed, an additional 45 hour approved real estate course (post course) must be completed.  When these requirements are met, a full sales associates license will be issued.

This phase of security training is required for all forms of security guard licenses. Course instruction is related to general private security tasks such as, Interpreting the Oklahoma security guard and private investigator act, developing basic first aid skills, operating a fire extinguisher and fire fighting equipment, writing field notes, writing reports and interpreting your legal powers and limitations.

Students must attend all hours of instruction & CDL test at DMV prior to class completion.

57 CMA A Certified Medication Aide is allowed to perform the administration of medication in the following settings: Long-term care facilities, facilities for the developmentally disabled, residential care facilities & adult day care facilities.  The CMA must show proof that they have actively been working for 6 months as a CNA before they can take the class.  After completing the course, the student will take the OK Certified Medication Aide State Exam.

Beginning Quilting

No previous sewing experience is necessary.  However, knowledge of your sewing machine is required, such as: needle threading, winding bobbin, changing needle.  This is a series of nine, 3-hour classes.  Homework may be needed to reinforce skills.  The completion of the project is determined by individual skill level.

Learn to paint an object to look as closely as possible to the real thing. When finished, some people actually think your painting is a photograph.

Whether used for fun or profit, auctioneering can be learned during class session that teach both auction theory and technique. Developing the basic chant, sales management and auction marketing will be covered during the class.
